ScotRail’s Dumfries and Carlisle service will now be offering food and drink hospitality.
Following the recent announcement that ScotRail will provide 10 extra services each weekday between Dumfries and Carlisle, delivering an extra 1,500 seats a day, ScotRail has now confirmed that for the first time customers will also be able to take advantage of a new food and drink service on their trains.
Fifteen new hospitality stewards, based at Carlisle and Glasgow Central, will be on board to deliver hospitality to customers.
Commenting, Galloway and West Dumfries MSP Finlay Carson said:
“I welcome the decision by ScotRail to provide a hospitality service to customers travelling on the Dumfries and Carlisle service.
“This will provide both local residents, and tourists to the Region, with a more pleasurable commute.
“I recently met with Alex Hynes, Managing Director of ScotRail Alliance, who made it clear that he will continue to work to provide the best service for those living in the Region.”
“It is clear that ScotRail are committed to improving the Dumfries service and I will continue to press for better quality services to and from Stranraer also.”
