Galloway & West Dumfries MSP Finlay Carson has pledged his support for the implementation of Frank's Law. If the campaign is made into law it would enable those under the age of 65 suffering from conditions like dementia to access free care.
Last week, leaders of all parties except the SNP united outside the Scottish Parliament to call for the law to be introduced.
Commenting, Finlay said:
"I am supportive of bringing forward legislation to ensure that under 65s with Dementia can access free personal care. Anyone who has had experience of a family member or friend with dementia in whatever form, will understand the need for this change to the Law.”
"Just last month my Constituency Office staff undertook a Dementia Awareness course and following their feedback I would encourage shops and businesses in my constituency to follow suit and to understand better how to identify and help someone with dementia.
“As Co-Convenor of the Scottish Parliament Cross Party Group on Dementia I urge the Scottish Government to stop dragging their heels and to put this law into place.”
