A manifesto that delivers for Scotland’s rural communities

Galloway and West Dumfries MSP Finlay Carson has hailed today’s UK Conservative manifesto as a plan “that delivers for Scotland’s rural communities”.

The manifesto provides a commitment to retain the same cash total in funds for farm support until the end of the parliament. This pledge provides farming communities across Scotland with the certainty that subsidies will not be cut over the next five years.

Another key announcement is a new Borderlands Growth deal to boost prosperity in the south of Scotland.

Galloway and West Dumfries MSP Finlay Carson said:

“I am thrilled to see such a firm commitment in our manifesto to Scotland’s rural communities.

“It re-invigorates the strong support of the Conservative Party for our farmers and rural businesses across the country. It shows that a re-elected Conservative Government will ensure communities across Scotland, including in my constituency of Galloway and West Dumfries, continue to benefit from being a part of the United Kingdom.

“The more Scottish Conservative MPs we elect on the 8th of June, the more MPs we will have at the heart of Westminster able to deliver even more for Scotland.

“All this is underpinned by the key commitment in today's manifesto - and that is to say no to the SNP's reckless plan for a second referendum so Scotland can move on, together."
