Galloway and West Dumfries MSP Finlay Carson says every option must be explored to ensure that Post Office services in Whithorn are retained.
The post office is set to close on March 21, following the resignation of the postmaster and Mr Carson says every possibility must be pursued, in order to protect the services the Post Office offer.
With banks having also closed their doors, Mr Carson is concerned that elderly and vulnerable residents will struggle to access services, with the nearest Post Office provision almost four miles away in the Isle of Whithorn.
Commenting Finlay Carson MSP said: “For rural communities like Whithorn, having access to post office services is absolutely vital, so it is concerning that the Post Office will be closing in March.
“Every option must be explored by the Post Office to ensure local residents and businesses can access a Post Office on their doorstep.
“With banks shutting their doors locally, it has become even more vital for Post Office services to be readily available.
“I hope that a solution can be urgently found to ensure that Whithorn residents can still enjoy full access to Post Office services, as they are currently."
