Galloway and West Dumfries MSP Finlay Carson has written to the Scottish Government seeking Government support for the South West Coastal 300 route.
On the back of a recent Parliamentary question, on how the Scottish Government can support the route, with particular mention to the section travelling through Burns country. The Scottish Conservative and Unionist MSP has now written to Minister Ben Macpherson MSP outlining further details of the route and the campaign by Visit South West Scotland, highlighting that with the correct resource the South West route could have a similar impact to the much heralded North Coast 500.
Commenting Finlay Carson MSP said: “One of the south-west’s biggest assets is it’s natural beauty and I am keen to support this coastal route in anyway I can.
“I was pleased that the Minister, when responding in the chamber, was keen to know more about the South West Coastal 300 route which has huge potential.
“I hope that the Minister will seriously consider supporting this route, and liaise closely with Visit South West Scotland on how to make it a success and make it this region’s North Coast 500.
“Tourism is a vital industry for our economy and by highlighting our many great attractions, we can grow our visitor numbers even further.”
