Galloway and West Dumfries MSP Finlay Carson says upgrades to car parking are absolutely vital at the Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.
The Scottish Conservative and Unionist MSP has regularly received complaints from constituents who have highlighted the difficulty in finding a parking space while at the Garroch site.
Mr Carson has once again raised the matter with NHS Dumfries and Galloway Chief Executive Jeff Ace who has now confirmed that a longer term parking review has commenced, with an update expected before the summer.
The health board have also confirmed that further parking spaces are expected to be created over the forthcoming weeks.
Commenting Finlay Carson MSP said: “Since the new hospital opened, one of the most common complaints is a lack of car parking spaces.
“It is clear that supply is not matching demand when it comes to having enough spaces for our hard working staff as well as those visiting family and friends.
“It is welcome that a longer term review has commenced, which I hope can once and for all secure sufficient car parking spaces at this site, which is so vital to the health needs of this region.”
