Galloway and West Dumfries MSP Finlay Carson has expressed his delight that additional screening will be put in place at Dalbeattie’s Water Treatment Works.
The Scottish Conservative and Unionist MSP had contacted Scottish Water after the matter was raised during a recent doorstep surgery in the town.
The view of the works is very visible from Hestan Road and a request was made to see if Mr Carson could secure additional screening at the site.
Scottish Water have now responded to Mr Carson to confirm that small conifers will be planted at the earliest opportunity, depending on the weather.
Commenting Finlay Carson MSP said: “I am pleased that Scottish Water have now agreed to this request, in order to provide more comfort for nearby residents, who had raised concerns.
“This has been done elsewhere in Dumfries and Galloway and has had a positive response, so I hope the conifers can be planted at the site again soon.
“This is exactly why I carry out doorstep surgeries, to allow me to take up concerns with the relevant authorities and hopefully secure positive outcomes like I have with Scottish Water in this case.”
