Galloway and West Dumfries MSP Finlay Carson has welcomed new measures from Ofcom designed at ensuring customers get better deals.
The Scottish Conservative and Unionist MSP, who is also his party’s spokesperson on the Digital Economy, says customers should be better informed by broadband, mobile, home phone and TV companies, once new requirements come into force in February 2020.
The measures include requiring companies to notify residential and business customers when their minimum contract period is coming to an end. Notifications with inform customers about the best tariffs available with out-of-contract customers also given this annual information.
Commenting Finlay Carson MSP said: “When it comes to broadband, mobile, landline and TV deals it is absolutely vital that customers are able to get access to the best deals available.
“These measures from Ofcom are a positive step in the right direction, which effectively gives customers a guarantee of information about the best tariffs available.
“Of course, particularly on broadband and mobile there is much still to do to ensure my constituents have access to super-fast broadband and a strong mobile signal.
“I will continue to push for measures to boost connectivity and work closely with Ofcom to ensure customers get the best deals possible.”
