Carson urges agricultural sector to attend Castle Douglas NFUS event

Galloway and West Dumfries MSP Finlay Carson has called on the local agricultural sector to head along to a National Farmers Union Scotland (NFUS) event in his constituency.

The Scottish Conservative and Unionist MSP’s call comes as the NFUS announce a roadshow around Scotland, with the first date being in the heart of Mr Carson’s constituency in Castle Douglas on Thursday November 7.

Topics including Brexit, convergence money, climate change, supply chains and future support for the industry will all be discussed when the roadshow comes to The Market Inn Hotel at 7pm.

Mr Carson is encouraging all local members to attend in order to discuss major issues for the industry and help to shape policies going forward.

Commenting, Finlay Carson MSP said: “It is welcome that the NFUS are set to bring their roadshow to Castle Douglas, which is an ideal opportunity for local members to head along to discuss major issues.

“With topics such as Brexit, convergence funding, climate change and future support for the industry all on the agenda, this is a hugely important discussion for our agricultural sector.

“So much is going on in politics currently and I am keen to ensure our farmers voice is at the heart of those discussions in order to secure a bright future for them.

“I hope to see as many local members in attendance in Castle Douglas in order to take policies forward.”
