Galloway and West Dumfries MSP Finlay Carson has welcomed moves from Transport Scotland to investigate flooding problems in Cairnryan.
The Scottish Conservative and Unionist MSP has received confirmation from Chief Executive Roy Brannen outlining the measures being taken to address issues which have affected villagers for years.
Mr Carson and the Community Council in Cairnryan have regularly raised issues over landslips and flooding on the A77 trunk road which have affected nearby houses.
In the response, Transport Scotland say they are undertaking drainage investigation work to map all drainage assets to help the management of the drainage systems.
Commenting, Finlay Carson MSP said: “It is welcome to see Transport Scotland taking decisive action to tackle road flooding in Cairnryan which has affected road users for years.
“This is an issue the community council have regularly raised concerns to me on, with houses being severely damaged.
“Now that drainage investigation works are being undertaken, I would hope that this will allow a much more effective flooding management system in the village.”
