Galloway and West Dumfries MSP Finlay Carson has greatly welcomed a major funding boost for farmers across Scotland.
The Scottish Conservative and Unionist MSP says the £160m of convergence funding announced by the Chancellor in his Spending Review will make a major difference to farmers future prospects.
The announcement comes after years of campaigning from Scottish Conservative MP’s and MSP’s to ensure farmers received the funding they had lost out on, due to EU criteria.
Commenting, Finlay Carson MSP said: “This announcement is a major boost for farmers across my constituency of Galloway and West Dumfries.
“Scottish Conservatives like myself had been pushing for this money to be rightfully given to our hardworking farmers and I’m delighted the Chancellor has announced £160m worth of convergence funding.
“The SNP Government now must ensure that this money goes directly to our farmers who need it most, to give them the assurances over their future prospects.
“I will continue to stand up for farmers interests across my constituency and push to get them the support they deserve.
“This funding represents a major victory for the Scottish Conservatives in standing up for our agricultural communities.”
