Galloway and West Dumfries MSP Finlay Carson has welcomed a four week extension to the South West Scotland Transport Study.
The Scottish Conservative and Unionist MSP had written to SNP Transport Secretary Michael Matheson MSP requesting an extension to the August 23 deadline.
He also encouraged Dumfries and Galloway Council Chief Executive Gavin Stevenson and Council leader Elaine Murray to join the calls to ensure the consultation hears from as many people as possible.
Mr Matheson has now confirmed the consultation will remain open until 20 September which has led Mr Carson to call on everyone to make their views known if they have not already done so.
Commenting, Finlay Carson MSP said: "The South West Transport Study is an absolutely vital report for the future transport infrastructure of this region.
"I welcome the fact that there is now going to be a further opportunity for local people and stakeholders to make sure their voices are fully known.
"There are a lot of exciting projects in the draft report to potentially upgrade our road and rail network but we must show they have local support.
"If you have not already done so I would encourage you to respond to the consultation to ensure we secure the transport upgrades we so desperately need to boost the local economy."
