Born in Dumfries and Galloway, Finlay Carson was educated, works and lives new near Twynholm in the heart of the region. MArried with 4 children, he has a broad understanding of the diverse and unique nature of our region.. He understand the issues that concern you because they are his concerns too.
Since his election to the Scottish Parliament in 2016, as MSP for Galloway and West Dumfries, he has worked tirelessly for his constituents bringing rural issues to the very heart of Government.
Finlay has held the posts of Shadow Minister for The Natural Environment and for the last 3 years has been the Convenor of the Parliament’s Rural Affairs and Island and Committee.
As a former farmer and businessman, he has fought for agriculture & rural businesses to get a fair hearing in the climate change debate, assisted in policy development on agriculture, animal welfare, the environment and climate change.
He stands up for rural businesses and communities, supporting local campaigns for fair business support, and against unwanted windfarms and pylons that blight our landscape.
For over 10 years he has led the fight for improved funding for road and rail projects including bypasses at Springholm and Crocketford and new rail facilities in Stranraer.
