Today I asked the First Minister to update members on any progress being made and confirm his commitment to working with the UK Gov to deliver the much-needed bypasses for Crocketford and Springholm. I asked also if he would agree to meeting with me and the South West Scotland Transport Alliance to consider their call to form a Task Force to deliver these urgent improvements.
This was after the response to my letter to the Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer who informed me that the Department of Transport are still in discussions with His Majesty’s Treasury regarding the £8m promised by former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to fund a study on improving the A75.
I am delighted to report that he has agreed to meet me in Galloway to see first hand the urgent repairs that are needed.
