The Scottish Government have announced yet another humiliating U-turn, this time over the installation of wood burning stoves.
They were initially hoping to impose a ban on the installation of wood burning stoves in new homes and conversions under the New Build Heat Standard (NBHS), which came into affect in April. This would have entailed new homes not being able to use direct-emission heating systems including gas or oil boilers.
However, the rules were put into review only the following month regarding concerns over the negative impact this would have on people living in rural areas.
After mounting pressure from Finlay Carson MSP and the Scottish Conservatives, the Scottish Government have announced a humiliating U-turn. It is only temporary, as Ministers now intend to review the NBHS.
In the meantime, Carson and the Scottish Conservatives will continue to campaign for the U-turn to be permanent.
