I was delighted to speak at the Climate Action Awards Night, where a host of fantastic nominees were in the running for awards in multiple categories, all relating to the crucial work they do in tackling climate change.
Nominees were nominated in categories such as Climate Collaboration, Technology and Innovation and Net Zero Nature. I would like to commend The Ethical Dairy, J Finlay & Son for winning the award for Net Zero Nature. The Ethical Dairy is based in Castle Douglas, and won the award for accomplishing phenomenal feats such as cutting greenhouse gas emissions by half, increased their farm bio-diversity by five fold and increased the net amount in their food system by 80%.
All of the nominees should be proud for making it to the shortlist for each prestigious award and it was a pleasure to celebrate the successes that have been made in tackling climate change.
Each nominee is a testament to the crucial steps that should be taken to improve the environment and I wish each one of them all of the best for the future.
